The LORD has enabled us, this last year, to support four orphans in Silchar Assam State in northeast Indai. We work in association with, and by the good graces of, Northeast India Baptist Bible College and its President Dr. Ishak Ahmed. I met Dr. Ahmed through mutual friends and we tallked about India and what God is doing through our little ministry in Andhra Pradesh State South India. He stated that they had brouight one orphan child into their school the previous year and cared for and educated this young person. I challenged him to take more children and that we would support them, and so there were four this last year.
Recently we received a letter from Dr. Ahmed wondering how many orphans we would be supporting this year? After some prayer I aslked one of our board members how many he thought we ought to take. His response cut to my heart and challenged my faith. He said "Why we should take them all. How can you turn any away?"
This response is, of course, our stand in Haiti. My friend was asking me how much faith I had. Could I believe God for all the orphans of India? If I could state, rather boldly, that I'd be willing to feed, clothe, house and educate all the orphans of Port Au Prince, why wouldn't I be willing to trust God for the orphans of India as well? Who am I trusting and why limit God? Does He not love His children in India just as much as in Haiti? Will He not provide? Of course He will.
So I wrote Brother Ishak that we will take care of as many orphans as they have room to house. As the Lord provides we will feed, clothe, educate and house as many orphans as they can put in their hostel and dorms. We await his response.
Please pray for the orphans of India and the work at Notheast India Baptist Bible College.
My Father's House India
At MY FATHER'S HOUSE INDIA, in Tandur we have a new baby. We have named her Noel Joy, since she received her name December 25th. She is seven months old. What a wonderful gift God has given to us.
My Father's House India is, of course, full to overflowing and we need to expand into another house. We cannot seem to find a suitable place to rent. It would be great to buy land but it is extremely expensive and difficult to find. All these things are fleshly obstacles. Our respomse must be spiritual and so.... We are giving ourselves to prayer on this matter and would ask that you join us as we seek God to provide more housing so we can care for more children. We are not satisfied turning any away. The Father of the Fatherless will hear and answer.
THE WORDSOWER BIBLE CHURCHES are growing in every way. We have forty-five pastor/church planters in the field reaching villages with the Good News of Jesus Christ. The Lord has enable our pastors to begin over a hundred churches with many converts and many baptisms. Our field in India encompasses Andhra Pradesh State as well as inroads into three other States. Our goal is to expand, as soon as we can identify the right men, to fifty church planters.
It is not easy moving to a poverty gripped village that is almost 100% Hindu, and begin to plant the Gospel of Jesus Christ. All but one of our pastors are married, many with children, and they labor for Jesus with little pay and much opposition, sometimes being subjected to physical violence. But they are staying and standing in love and bearing much fruit to the Glory of God the Father. We believe that God will enable us to establish His Church in all of the three thousand villages, in our field area, that we have identified as being without the witness of Christ.
India India
Land of rice and cotton
Ancient times here are not
forgotten
We look away
Hunger governs millions
Abortion millions more
The girls are left to die
at birth
As millions lie nieth
nutrition's threshold
With widows begging
in the streets
Ancient times here are not
forgotten
And we look away
Idols proliferate
filling every space
Darkness rules the hearts
Bound up in reincarnation's
futile promise
Only a little light shines
For those inshrouded by
that ancient curse
Hinduism has no compassion
And ancient times here
are not forgotten
How can we look away?
